Most of that, except for the infrared radiation, passes through the filter in the atmosphere that is composed of "greenhouse gasses" including CO2. But once the broad spectrum light hits the surface of the Earth and its oceans, it is absorbed, (heating the earth) and the absorbed energy from the light causes then causes increased radiation as heat in the infrared part of the spectrum. And it is this radiated infrared light which is absorbed by the atmospheric greenhouse gas on the return path, further heating the atmosphere.

This, incidentally, is how greenhouses work, and why we need to loft infra-red satellite sensors above the atmosphere.

The incoming radiation impinging on the Earth from the Sun is comprised of a broad spectrum of frequencies all the way from infrared radiation through x-rays.
